DESCRIPTION:
To support young, gifted athletes throughout India, the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) has established its Sports Scholarship Scheme 2025–2026. The program offers financial assistance to up-and-coming athletes who have the potential to succeed at the national and international levels, such as chess prodigies.
🎯 Objective of the Scheme
The goal of the ONGC Sports Scholarship is to encourage athletes who excel in sports and provide financial assistance to athletes who show great promise in their chosen fields. The program encourages young people in India to get involved in sports and follow their passions for a living.

The overall quantity of scholarships
In 21 various sports, including chess, athletics, badminton, cricket, football, hockey, boxing, kabaddi, tennis, and swimming, ONGC will provide 250 scholarships under this program.
50% of female athletes are guaranteed representation by the organization.
Four players will be chosen for the chess category: one male and one female for the junior and senior divisions.
Eligibility Requirements
Citizenship: An Indian citizen is required of the application.
Candidates must be between the ages of 15 and 20 and born between April 1, 2005, and April 1, 2010.
Income Limit: Parents should not earn more than ₹5,00,000 per year.
Work: There should be no employment for the athlete.
Additional Scholarships: Candidates must not be receiving any funding from outside sources, including grants, stipends, or sponsorships.
The scholarship will be awarded for one year, extendable up to two additional years based on the sportsperson’s performance.

Monthly Financial Assistance: Top-performing athletes may receive up to ₹30,000 each month.
Possibility of Representing ONGC: Selected athletes may be given the opportunity to compete for ONGC in reputable competitions.
Travel & Allowances: During participation, travel and daily allowances (TA/DA) are given.
Sports outfits: Players representing ONGC will receive official sports outfits.
Health/Accident Insurance: Up to ₹5,00,000 in coverage or up to ₹7,000 in annual insurance premium reimbursement.
