JOB DESCRIPTION:

Document understanding deteriorates most rapidly in the languages that parsing and vision-language models seldom encounter. This project creates training data specifically for those languages: Telugu, together with four other Indic scripts, Japanese and Korean. Every task uses a genuine, publicly accessible PDF page and generates a full structural map of that page, combined with an accurate transcription of each text region in its original script.
The dataset intentionally focuses on the content models struggle with most: handwriting, dense multi-column layouts, tables, diagrams, and pages containing mixed scripts. Documents come from newspapers, textbooks, examinations, and everyday formats like flyers, forms, manuals, menus, brochures, notices and worksheets, ensuring the corpus captures the true diversity of Telugu documents instead of a limited selection of easily parsed ones.
All delivered work is authored by humans. Component identification, component typing, reading order and every transcription are carried out by people, not produced by parsing models.

What you will do

- Open a task and check it: since the pages are already provided, you don’t need to source documents yourself. We locate the PDFs and upload them on your behalf. Before you annotate, make sure the page is in Telugu, is readable, contains real content, and does not display any personal details
  Annotate the structure: find and outline every meaningful region on the page – document title, section heading, paragraph, list, table, figure, diagram, caption, formula, question, answer field – and give each one a component type and a reading-order index
  Record the relationships: connect each region to the figure or table it belongs to using a parent component identifier
  Transcribe accurately: reproduce all text exactly as it appears in Telugu script, including handwritten content, and flag any region where the source is illegible
  Capture the page metadata: language, document type, source, page dimensions, and flags for tables, formulas, and handwriting
  Review a colleague’s work: a second Telugu expert reviews every task from start to finish, and experienced annotators handle that review

You are a native Telugu speaker who has complete mastery of the script, including its diacritics and conjunct forms.
You have experience with documents such as annotation, transcription, translation, localization, subtitling, proofreading, journalism, or regional-language data review.
You are precise: character-level accuracy counts for more than speed here, and even one incorrect diacritic counts as a defect.
You are methodical: rather than improvising for each document, you apply a taxonomy consistently across hundreds of pages.
You are at ease with unfamiliar layouts, such as multi-column newspapers, exam papers, and handwritten forms.
Nice-to-Have Specialties
Regional-language AI data: annotation, labeling, grading, or bilingual evaluation for training datasets
Transcription and localization: MTPE, subtitling, bilingual QA, OCR correction or post-editing
Document production: typesetting, copy-editing, proofreading, or digitization of Telugu-language material
Script and encoding: Unicode normalization, Telugu input methods, numeral-form and character-form accuracy
