Selection Process
The Indian Coast Guard CGEPT selection process consists of four stages.
Stage I – Computer Based Examination
Stage I is a Computer Based Examination consisting of:
– 100 questions
– 100 marks
– 1 mark for each question
– Duration: 1 hour
– Objective-type multiple-choice questions
– Question paper in Hindi and English
– No negative marking
The passing marks specified are:
– UR/EWS/OBC – 40 marks
– SC/ST – 35 marks

Stage II – Physical Fitness Test & Other Tests
Candidates shortlisted for Stage II undergo identity and biometric verification followed by the required recruitment tests.
The Physical Fitness Test includes:
Male candidates
– 1.6 km run – 6 minutes 30 seconds
– Squats – 20
– Push-ups – 15
– Sit-ups – 15
Female candidates
– 1.6 km run – 8 minutes
– Squats – 15
– Push-ups – 10
– Sit-ups – 10

Stage II also includes the Assessment & Adaptability Test, document verification and recruitment medical examination.
Stage III
Candidates who qualify Stage I and Stage II and are sufficiently high in merit are provisionally shortlisted for reporting at INS Chilka.

Stage IV
Stage IV involves verification and authentication of original educational and other documents with the concerned Boards, Universities and Government authorities. CGEPT012027_Adv_Bilingual
Medical Standards
The notification specifies mandatory medical standards.
The minimum height is:
– Male – 157 cm
– Female – 152 cm
Certain domicile-based height relaxations are available according to the conditions specified in the notification. CGEPT012027_Adv_Bilingual
The advertisement also specifies standards relating to chest, weight, hearing, dental health, general fitness and eyesight.
For example, the visual standards include:
– General Duty – 6/6 better eye and 6/9 worse eye
– Domestic Branch – 6/36 in both eyes
– Yantrik – 6/24 in both eyes
– Hygienist – specified standards with and without glasses

Application Fee
The examination fee is:
₹550
The fee can be paid through online payment methods such as net banking, Visa/Master/Maestro debit card and UPI.

The notification states that the fee once paid will not be refunded, subject to the specific provisions mentioned in the advertisement.

How to Apply for Indian Coast Guard Recruitment 2027
Eligible candidates need to submit the application online.
The notification directs candidates to:
Step 1: Visit the SSC recruitment portal.
Step 2: Complete the required registration process.
Step 3: Fill in personal, educational and other required details carefully.
Step 4: Upload the required documents and photograph.
Step 5: Complete the live image capture and signature requirements.
Step 6: Select the applicable post.
Step 7: Pay the examination fee, if applicable.
Step 8: Carefully review the application before final submission.
Step 9: Save/print the submitted application for future reference.

Training
The basic training for CGEPT 01/2027 is scheduled to commence in May 2027, while CGEPT 02/2027 basic training is scheduled to commence in November 2027 at INS Chilka.
