Increasing the number of aspiring computer scientists and software developers, especially those who have historically been under-represented in the profession, is a priority for Google. A program that bridges the gap between academic studies and a practical internship could be beneficial for many aspiring computer scientists. With such a program, Google hopes to encourage these under-represented students to stay in the profession.
Google is happy to launch the 2025 STEP internship in India in light of this. By the summer of 2025, it will be available to under-represented groups pursuing computer science or a related field who are in their second year of college.

What you will do
- Any skills related to the role

- You will collaborate with a group of Google employees and other STEP Interns on a development project as part of our summer trainee program.
- Along with being exposed to tools and programming languages, you will improve your coding abilities.
- You will be paired with a Google Engineer to help you navigate your summer experience, attend regular technical sessions led by Google executives, and participate in networking, community building, and social events.
Education Required:
- Currently enrolled in a full time degree program and returning to the program after the completion of the internship.
- Ability to complete a full-time, 10-12 week internship between May and August 2025 (exact program dates will be provided at a later point in the process).

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Good Fluency in English
- You are a bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of work experience
proficiency with a general-purpose programming language or languages.
Proficiency in English communication is necessary to actively engage in technical conversations.Preferred requirements: Currently enrolled in a full-time degree program and planning to rejoin after the internship is over.
Capacity to finish a 10- to 12-week, full-time internship from May to August 2025 (specific program dates will be disclosed later in the process).
Outstanding programming abilities in languages like Python, Java, and C++.
