Education Required:

Candidates must meet the following educational requirements as of 1 October 2026:

Must have passed Class 10.

Must possess a National Trade Certificate (NTC/ITI) in the relevant trade.

Must possess a National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) in the respective trade.

General and OBC candidates must have secured at least 60% marks in both NTC/ITI and NAC.

SC and ST candidates must have secured at least 55% marks in both NTC/ITI and NAC.

Only full-time regular courses will be considered. The required certificates and marksheets must have been issued on or before 1 October 2026.

Knowledge of the regional language is desirable for units located in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Karnataka. Knowledge of Hindi is desirable for other units.

BHEL Artisan Recruitment 2027 Age Limit

The upper age limit for General and EWS candidates is 27 years as of 1 October 2026.

Age relaxation is available for eligible candidates as follows:

SC/ST: 5 years

OBC (Non-Creamy Layer): 3 years

Persons with Benchmark Disabilities: 10 years for General, 13 years for OBC (NCL) and 15 years for SC/ST

Ex-Servicemen: As per applicable government rules

The selection process consists of two stages. Candidates must qualify in both stages to be considered for the final merit list.
Stage 1: Computer-Based Examination
Eligible applicants must appear for a Computer-Based Examination (CBE) in their respective trades.
Candidates will be shortlisted for the Skill Test based on their examination marks and the category-wise vacancies available in the selected unit and trade. Normally, candidates will be shortlisted in a 1:3 ratio against vacancies. Where there is a single vacancy in a particular trade/category, up to five candidates may be shortlisted.
The minimum qualifying marks in the Computer-Based Examination are:
General/EWS: 40%
OBC (Non-Creamy Layer)/SC/ST: 30%
Specific relaxations for eligible PwBD and Ex-Servicemen candidates are provided in the notification.
Stage 2: Document Verification and Skill Test
Shortlisted candidates must undergo document verification to establish their eligibility. They must subsequently attend and qualify in the Skill Test.
The Skill Test is qualifying in nature. Candidates who are found eligible during document verification and qualify in the Skill Test will be considered for the final merit list.
The final merit order will be prepared based on the Computer-Based Examination score.
The notification also provides preference for candidates recognized as Best Apprentice or Runner-Up Apprentice in the All India Apprentices Competition, subject to the prescribed conditions and submission of the required certificate.
