Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited (MDL), one of India’s leading Navratna Public Sector Undertakings under the Ministry of Defence, has officially released the MDL Apprentice Recruitment 2026 notification. The organization is inviting online applications for 495 Trade Apprentice vacancies under the Apprentices Act, 1961.
Candidates who have passed 8th Class, 10th Class, or ITI can apply for various apprentice trades. This recruitment offers an excellent opportunity for freshers to gain hands-on industrial training in one of India’s premier shipbuilding companies.

Selection Process

The MDL Apprentice Selection Process consists of three stages:

Stage 1: Online Computer-Based Test (CBT)

Candidates must appear for a 100-mark online examination.

English & General Knowledge – 25 Marks
Physics – 25 Marks
Chemistry – 25 Marks
Mathematics – 25 Marks

# Group B Exam Pattern

English & General Knowledge – 25 Marks
Trade Theory – 25 Marks
Workshop Calculation & Science – 25 Marks
Engineering Drawing – 25 Marks

Stage 2: Document Verification and Trade Allotment

Candidates shortlisted based on CBT merit will be called for document verification and trade allotment.

Stage 3: Medical Examination

Final selected candidates must clear the medical fitness examination as per Apprenticeship Rules.

Education Required:

Group A

Candidates must have passed SSC/10th Class with at least 50% aggregate marks for General, OBC, EWS, and other eligible categories.

Group B

Candidates must have passed ITI in the relevant trade from a Government-recognized Industrial Training Institute.

Group C

Candidates must have passed 8th Standard under the 10+2 system with Science and Mathematics subjects.

Age Limit

Group A

Minimum Age: 15 Years
Maximum Age: 19 Years

Group B

Minimum Age: 16 Years
Maximum Age: 21 Years

Group C

Minimum Age: 14 Years
Maximum Age: 18 Years

Age Relaxation

SC/ST: 5 Years
OBC: 3 Years
Divyang Candidates: 10 Years
